Missing teeth can negatively impact oral comfort, function, and appearance, and may contribute to serious health complications. Drs. Eberhardt will work with you to determine what your best options are for restoring your missing teeth.

A wonderful alternative to silver (amalgam) fillings are the tooth colored composite resins. Many patients prefer to have their old silver restorations replaced with resin. Not only are composite fillings more esthetic, as we can mix colors to achieve the perfect match to your tooth color, but they also allow for a much more conservative preparation of the tooth, keeping more of your natural tooth structure in tact. Occasionally, some patients will experience mild and temporary post-operative sensitivity with tooth colored restorations. This is rare, but normal if it does occur, and usually disappears within a few days.
There is no reason to put up with gaps in your teeth or with teeth that are stained, badly shaped or crooked. Many people choose to have veneers placed on top of their teeth to permanently change the shape and/or color of their natural teeth to create a more ideal smile. They can also be used to correct broken or chipped teeth resulting from an injury. Veneers are thin, custom-made shells crafted of tooth-colored materials such as pressed porcelain or composite and are designed to cover only the front side of teeth. You should know that this is usually an irreversible process, because most times it is necessary to remove a small amount of enamel from your teeth to accommodate the shell. Lumineers may be considered if you don’t like the idea of removing enamel from your teeth. They require little to no preparation, and may be able to be removed if you ever want to return to your original smile. Like veneers, Lumineers cover the teeth to alter shape, color, and size. However, they are not right for everyone and Drs. Eberhardt will help you determine if they are an option for your unique case.
Cracked, broken, decayed, or worn teeth, can be restored to healthy, natural-looking teeth with dental crowns, also called caps. A crown can return structure, strength, and function to a tooth with extensive decay or damage. Crowns are designed to fit precisely and function as a healthy tooth, it will protect your tooth from further damage and preserve your jaw’s correct, natural alignment. To achieve the most lifelike, esthetic result, we use a tooth colored all-porcelain crown that is designed to match your specific tooth color. Porcelain crowns are extremely durable and long lasting, which makes them popular with dentists as well as patients. If you grind your teeth (bruxism), we may recommend that you wear a night guard to prevent damage or breakage of your porcelain crowns. Typically, we can design, fit, and place your crowns in just two appointments. Once a crown is placed, you care for it as you do your natural teeth. Conscientious brushing twice a day and daily flossing will protect the base of your crown from bacterial growth. Be sure to see us at least two times each year for professional cleanings and a preventive exam to maintain the health of your dental work.
Teeth whitening or bleaching is one of the most popular areas of cosmetic dentistry. Even subtle changes in shading can make someone look years younger. Several factors can contribute to the darkening of teeth, including the effects of age, certain foods and drinks, smoking and medications.
Bleaching is a whitening process that involves placing a bleaching solution in contact with the teeth, causing oxidation of stains, resulting in lightening. There are a variety of systems that are available to whiten teeth. These include tooth whitening done in the dental office, or dentist-supervised at home systems.
We offer both systems in our office. After discussing the advantages/disadvantages, and differences of each, you can choose either system. The first is the Opalescence at home bleaching system and second is the Deep Bleaching System. One may be better than the other for your individual goals. Dr. Eberhardt will work with you to pick the best system for you.
There have recently been many questions regarding the safety of teeth whitening. Extensive research and clinical studies by organizations such as the American Dental Association indicate that professional teeth whitening under the supervision of a dentist is perfectly safe. Whitening is a non-invasive, quick option to achieve very esthetic results.
